A home for thousands of children in Israel
Migdal Ohr, a country wide network of educational institutions, is the jewel in the crown of Israel Prize winner, Rabbi Yitzhak Dovid Grossman’s life work. The first school was established in 1972 with just 18 pupils. Today, thousands of children are cared for and study at day care centers, kindergartens, grade schools and junior high and high schools. The guiding principal behind the work of Migdal Ohr is that with care, love and an equal opportunity for all, it is possible to get the best out of children and youth.
Migdal Ohr Educational Campus
The educational campus of Migdal Ohr institutions is in Migdal HaEmek in a 45 acre area of which 130,000 SqM. are buildings filled with life and a wide range of educational activities. It provides a learning and educational framework for thousands of children and youth of all ages form the city and the surrounding area. So successful was the work of Migdal Ohr that, over the years, it expanded out from the borders of Migdal HaEemk and today is a nationwide educational framework.
Migdal HaEmek | First Years
At the start of the 1970’s, a period when the majority of Migdal HaEmek residents were coping with a harsh life filled with hardships, Rabbi Grossman initiated and established an educational project that had, as its central foundation, the basic belief that, by caring and loving and providing an equal opportunity to all, it was possible the get the best out of the children and youth. In 1972 the first educational framework was established with just 18 pupils between the ages of 11 – 12 that Rabbi Grossman gathered from needy families in Migdal HaEmek.
Over the years this single educational institution grew into an educational campus that teaches and educates thousands of students, some from needy families, orphans, and others from families of new immigrants recently arrived in Israel. All benefit from the educational campuses as well as from a warm and caring environment in the boarding school.
