The students of the “Afiki Ohr” youth village went on a volunteer day at a nursing home for elderly people and brought light to the old residents

The students of the “Afiki Or” youth village of the “Migdal Or” association went on a volunteer day at an old people’s home and brought the farm animals of the village with them so that our senior citizens could enjoy them as well. The students, most of whom are defined as at risk, not only brought joy to the residents of the nursing home but also gained valuable life skills through the empowering experience. During the visit, the students, who regularly take care of animals as part of their agricultural studies, brought rabbits and parrots from the village. The animals played a central role in the activities and provided the senior citizens with moments of connection and enjoyment while petting and interacting with them. The highlight of the day was a special workshop led by the students, in which they taught the old residents how to make flower pots with macrame covers. The students demonstrated leadership, responsibility and communication skills, and acquired tools that will serve them in the future. In addition, they spent time playing board games and talking with the residents, giving warmth, a lot of attention and brightening their day. This initiative not only brought happiness to the elderly nursing home residents but also empowered the female students who returned with a sense of pride and achievement in their significant contribution. This is an excellent example of how the educational institutions of the Migdal Ohr teach their students the importance of giving to others. At Migdal Ohr, the students learn that no matter what you have, you can always give, support and make a difference in someone else’s life.
