MAGEN ISRAEL

Humanitarian aid in time of crisis for the State of Israel, is designed to support the local authorities and government institutions during a state of emergency, so they can continue to provide solutions for the needs of the country’s citizens.

About Magen Israel

Since its establishment, the State of Israel has experienced countless events that have undermined its stability in the fields of defense, economics, government, health and social services.  Being able to stand up to these threats has always been possible due to the power of mutual responsibility and social solidarity in the Israeli society.  Magen Israel was established by Israel Prize Recipient, Rabbi Yitzchak David Grossman, to strengthen the national resilience and assist the country in its time of trouble.

Our Goal

To help the country and its citizens overcome historical moments of crisis in the history of the State of Israel

Our Story

The need of the hour

Magen Israel was founded in the summer of 2006, with the outbreak of the Second Lebanon War, when Migdal Ohr, together with the JDC joined forces to assist and care for thousands of children from Northern Israel who were evacuated to central Israel.  For four months, Migdal Ohr operated camps for children from the north, who were able to breathe in air that was clear of fears and anxieties of the war.  All this was organized within 24  hours.

Out of love and concern for the Jewish People, Rabbi Yitzchak David Grossman decided that the Organization’s existing set-up and vast experience could serve the country in the future as well, in times of crisis and emergency.  And so, Magen Israel became a project of great national importance that continues to operate in times of crisis to this day.

Israel in War Time

Magen Israel works on behalf of the wounded soldiers of the Iron Swords War

On October 7th, 2023, the State of Israel set out to fight a war against a cruel enemy, which launched a surprise vicious and heinous attack against Israel, leading to innocent victims – men, women, children and the elderly.  Many Israeli families lost their loved ones and were shattered into pieces when their loved ones were  murdered, wounded or taken hostage into Gaza.

On that horrific Saturday, the Migdal Ohr Organization began to operate the Magen Israel system, to help all the war’s wounded and continues to do so until today.

Assistance to families of the wounded at the hospitals

Migdal Ohr helps hospitals nationwide by supplying equipment and meeting shortages, providing them with equipment and aids so they can continue to offer the wounded the best care. The pupils of Migdal Ohr visit the hospitals to encourage and assist families of the wounded who are at the side of their loved ones, in difficult times. They meet the needs of the families and strengthen them.

Assistance to evacuated families

The Migdal Ohr Organization helped evacuate residents of the south, transferring them to hotels across Israel. The organization provides them with things that they lack and with solutions to meet their needs, including clothing, food, toys, books and games for children. During their stay, the organization runs various activities to ease some of the fears and concerns of the children and to keep them and the adults busy with enjoyable content, including performances of artists, workshops for children, classes and activities. Residents of the south arrive at a safe place where they feel that the people of Israel stand behind them.

Assistance to IDF soldiers

Assistance with providing things that IDF soldiers lack, providing them with clothing and supplementary army equipment (vests, helmets, etc.). In addition, the organization’s volunteers provide our soldiers with love, gift packages with snacks, dry food products and toiletries.
