Each year, before Rosh Hashana, the Migdal Ohr Organization launches an important national campaign called Chag Saveah for Children, in which tens of thousands of food packages are delivered to children from families unable to celebrate the holiday with dignity.
The campaign began in 2004, as a local initiative of the pupils of the Migdal Ohr educational institutions, who wished to help their friends who were unable to celebrate the holiday properly. Over the years, this became an important and vital national campaign in which hundreds of volunteers also take part alongside the Migdal Ohr pupils. IDF soldiers, youth movement members, employees of leading companies, and many other volunteers take part in packing the food baskets for those needy children.
According to the statistics of the National Insurance Institute, there are more than 800,000 hungry children in Israel who are unable to properly celebrate the Rosh Hashana holiday. This is a worrisome statistic, which necessitates us, as charitable organizations, to help these needy children and families.
Thanks to our doors, private individuals and commercial companies and our partners, we make every effort to ensure that there are no hungry children during the holiday. Together, we will provide them with a Chag Saveah!
